The Plastics Pioneers Association is Celebrating 75 years of Giving Back in 2023

Building on our past to advance the future success of the plastics industry, the Plastics Pioneers Association is an organization of individuals who are persons of accomplishment in the industry. We support scholarships, educational programs, a history center, and more to engage the next generation of people in the world of plastics.

In 2023 we are celebrating our 75th anniversary, and we hope you will join us for the fun Diamond Anniversary events we have planned at our Spring and Fall meetings.

PPA will also be featuring historical stories here and in trade magazines, so be on the lookout for those.  The first one is below.  We look forward to continuing to serve the Plastics industry for many years to come!

PPA Member Stories

Here is the first in a series of 75th Anniversary stories that will be posted. Our thanks to Steve & Roz Hershfield for the fun story about their weekend hosting the inventor of TEFLON, Dr. Roy Plunkett.

The Weekend of April 5th Through 9th, 1990

From Thursday, April 5th to Monday, April 9th, 1990, my wife, Roslyn, and I had the wonderful opportunity to host Dr. Roy and Lois Plunkett when they came to Akron, OH for the National Inventors Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the celebration of the opening of Inventure Place. For those who do not know who Dr. Roy Plunkett is…
