To qualify for membership in the Plastics Pioneers Association, applicants must:
- Have been employed in the plastics industry for a minimum of 20 years at the time of application.
- Have made worthwhile contributions to the betterment of the plastics industry (e.g. achievements in the fields of plastics and/or polymer science, engineering, technology, education, sales/marketing, or management; or have served with distinction in the plastics industry or related associations, etc.).
- Submit a completed Membership Application to the Membership Committee.
- Be sponsored for membership by at least two current members in good standing of the Association who shall send letters of recommendation to the Membership Committee (if you don't have sponsors identified, the Membership Committee will assign members to assist with your application and make recommendations to the Membership Committee). The sponsors must not be employed by the same company as the applicant.
- After submission of a completed application and receipt of sponsors letters of recommendation, candidates for Regular Membership shall be reviewed by the Membership Committee and proposed to the Board of Governors for the review and vote. Election shall be by a majority vote of the Board of Governors.
- To retain their membership un the Association, newly elected Regular Members must attend either the Business meeting at the Annual Meeting or any regular meeting of Members called by the Board of Governors during the first yar after their election to membership, in order to be formally introduced to the membership assembled to receive their Membership Certificates and lapel pins. For purposes of this provision, the first yar after election shall be the full calendar year following such election, Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the necessity for the candidate to reapply for membership.
After review by the Board of Governors, the Membership Committee Chair will advise approved applicants of their election and cause an invoice to be issued for the Initiation Fee ($100) and the first year's dues ($150). If the approval is within the last 90 days of the calendar year, the membership fee will be applied to the subsequent year. Failure to pay annual dues promptly may cause the member to be dropped from membership.
Membership in the Plastics Pioneers Association is limited by its Bylaws to two hundred -fifty (250) Regular Members,
