Rod RothRodney (Rod) Roth, one of the founders of R&D Plastics LLC (Hillsboro, OR), passed away on March 25th at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer. He passed away at his home with his wife, Kim Alford, and close friend and business partner Sal Gonzalez by his side.

Rod was a guest speaker at the Plastics Pioneers Association at the Fall 2017 meeting in Salt Lake City.

While Rod was one of the co-founders and company president of R&D Plastics, he treated his employees, customers and suppliers more like family. He would always go out of this way to help anyone he could. He worked tirelessly to promote not only his company but also the plastics industry and was very supportive of the local community, said a statement sent out by the company.

He was an extraordinary man and passionate about helping young people with an interest in plastics education or in the plastics industry. He helped set up and fund three different scholarships in the Plastics Engineering program at Western Washington University in the names of his parents and himself.

The company noted that the business Roth co-founded in 1996 will continue to move forward under the established succession plan, to honor his hard work, his vision and his legacy.

He will be missed and remembered. For anyone wanting to honor Rod, donations may be made to Western Washington University by contacting the following:
